Margaret Ilomuanya Laboratory

Dr. Ilomuanya holds a B.Pharm in Pharmacy from University of Lagos and PhD in Pharmaceutic and Pharmaceutical Technology also from the University of Lagos. She was a predoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham in 2011 and a research fellow at the University of Pennsylvania in 2012. She was a JEIVEN fellow at the Centre for Biomedical Research Population Council NY in 2020.

Dr. Ilomuanya has authored and co-authored over 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is the recipient of both international and national grants. She is a product developer, and currently carries out pre-clinical testing for dermatological formulations. Several of her published work includes Artificial neural network for optimizing the formulation of curcumin-loaded liposomes from statistically designed experiments and Enzyme Responsive Vaginal Microbicide Gels Containing Maraviroc and Tenofovir Microspheres Designed for Acid Phosphatase-Triggered Release for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis of HIV-1 etc. At the University of Lagos, she teaches Pharmaceutics and novel Drug delivery technologies and leverages on her research which is focused on translating laboratory findings to patient use.
